We sat down with Hanna, one of the holistic estheticians here at Spruce to chat about her morning and evening skincare routines (as shown by her illustrations!), what she is loving lately, how she spends her days off - and naturally… how she got into art!
Hanna’s Morning Routine:
- Ursa Major 4-in-1: I opt out of using a traditional cleanser in the morning, instead I’ll splash some cool water on my face and apply the Ursa Major 4-in-1 Face Tonic with a reusable cotton round.
- Berlin Skin Eye Butter: see evening routine
- Berlin Skin Carrot Seed Serum: Berlin skin has become a staple in my routine, and the carrot seed serum is my favorite from their collection. I use it as my source of vitamin c but I also love how hydrated my skin feels after using!
- Berlin Skin Sandalwood Cream: see evening routine
- July Sky SPF: if you’re using a product every day of your life, you should love it in my opinion. This is the best spf I’ve used hands down. No white cast, hydrating, has vitamin c and no overpowering scent.

Hanna's Evening Routine:
- Wonder Valley Cleanser: I start my nightly routine by giving my face a little massage and working the cleanser into my skin. I love the way it makes my skin feel clean while still hydrated and dewy.
- Stone Crop Toner: Next, I tone my skin the stone crop hydrating mist. I’ve tried lots of toners and I always come back to this one. In my opinion, it’s the best hydrating toner in the game.
- Berlin Skin Eye Butter: I work this in around my eyes and if I’m feeling dry, I’ll put it all over.
- Moon Juice Plump Jelly: If you have skin, you should be using a hyaluronic acid. I apply 2 pumps of plump jelly to help my skin retain moisture.
- Botnia Clarity Oil: I have dry, breakout prone skin, I’ve found that one of the best ways to combat those things is by having a good facial oil. The clarity oil is anti bacterial & anti inflammatory, perfect for helping decongest and sooth my skin.
- Berlin Skin Sandalwood Cream: my go to moisturizer for breakout prone skin. I like to mix my oil & moisturizer together to achieve the ultimate dewy glow.

How did you get into illustration?
I’ve always liked to doodle and try different forms of art, everything from sketching to calligraphy to macrame. But usually life gets busy and art gets forgotten about. Then over quarantine I found that I had a lot of free time on my hands and wanted to try something new. I came across an illustrator on Instagram and I was hooked so I started browsing for more illustrations and then watching YouTube tutorials. I invested in an iPad soon after and just started practicing. So far I’ve found that my favorite subjects to illustrate are skincare, architecture, still life, & fashion!
What does a typical day off look like for you?
I try to take my mornings pretty slow on a true day off. My husband will make us coffee and if I’m really lucky, he will go grab us some breakfast burritos. After that I usually take my dog, French Fry, on a walk and listen to a podcast or we will head to the dog park. The afternoons are usually reserved for something fun like thrift shopping with Grayson, illustrating or a good book. Then we make dinner together and curl up on couch chatting about our weeks or watching one of our shows!
What is something you have been enjoying lately?
Mac miller’s album, Circles. Trufru, ( you’ll thank me later). I love the raspberries with white & dark chocolate. I recently finished maid on Netflix, obsessed. I couldn’t stop thinking about it. My air fryer, I know I’m late to the game but this thing made me actually enjoy eating salmon. The social sauce podcast for social media & business tips.
